August will be "Childhood Memories" Month at the NHS with three special live programs at which you can to share your favorite memories of growing up in the towns of Nunda and Portage: Sunday, August 2, 2:30 to 4 PM "Growing Up on the Farm"; Wednesday, August 12, 7 - 8:30 PM "Alumni Memories"; Sunday, August 16, 2:30 to 4 PM "Growing Up in Oakland"These programs are free and open to the public. They will also be carried live via Zoom - login information will be available a week before each of the programs. We will have additional programs on growing up in Tuscarora and Portageville in the fall! Please message us or email us if you have any questions!

The NHS Calendar "Growing Up in Nunda and Portage" is still available at the Nunda Family Pharmacy, Bell Memorial Library, on eBay and at the Nunda Historical Society. Supplies are limited! Both Volume I and II of Nunda Notables by Peter Piraino are available for $12 at the Nunda Family Pharmacy, Bell Memorial Library or the NHS. For information and an order sheet, go to our gift shop!

Don't forget - our self-guided history walking tour is open. Just stop by our pavilion and pick up one of the tour guides and take a walk through history!

We do have some older historical calendars for sale for only $2.00!  Each one is full of local photos and area history! Stop by and see what is available!

The Nunda Museum and Rose Shave Gallery will be open on Sunday, August 2nd and Sunday August 16th from 2 to 4 PM. We will be holding special "Childhood Memories" programs from 2:30 to 4PM on those days but visitors are still welcome to explore the Museum and Rose Shave Gallery starting at 2 PM.

We have recently added a new basketball story by NHS member Bob Gelser to our website! You will find it on our Basketball Story page!

Did you know that we added three new books to our list of local history books for sale? They are "The Diaries of Justus L. Barker: Book One 1855 to 1859" by Pam Cox,  and "The Yesterday Series; Articles written by Thomas S Cook for the Nunda News 1977-1982, Vol 1 and 2.  They are now available in the NHS gift shop, the Nunda Family Pharmacy and can be purchased on Amazon.
