8:30-9:00 AM - Registration – Nunda Historical Society Museum, 24 Portage Street

9:00-9:10 AM - Welcome and Overview of the day’s events – Tom Cook , NHS President

9:15 – 10:00 AM – Presentation: “Chasing Your Dead Relatives” by Dick Alderman. Learn the different tricks and techniques that will help you uncover your family history using both traditional and online resources.

10:00- 10:15 AM - Break & Refreshments

10:15-11:45 AM – Choose your own history adventure. Participants select one or more of the following activities or just visit and catch up with friends.

Visit the “Story of Nunda”: explore the rich history of the Town of Nunda through the ever expanding exhibits in the Society’s new Museum area.

Genealogical Help Tables: Just getting started in your family research? Finding brick walls in your search for your ancestors? Sit down with an experienced researcher who can offer advice and suggestions to help you in your genealogical quests.

“Researching Nunda History and Families” Nunda Historical Society’s crack staff of researchers will help you search for answers in the Society’s growing archives.

Select a Craft: NHS members will demonstrate numerous crafts and work with participants who need help with a project or those who would just like to experience working in one of the crafts. Included will be hand quilting, knitting, crocheting, and more.

12:00-1:00 PM - Enjoy a catered lunch in our pavilion. Menu: Pulled pork sandwiches, potato and macaroni salads, baked beans, fruit, cookies and brownies, water and soda

1:15 – 2:30 PM - Showing of April 5, 2015 TV program, “So who do you think you are?,” featuring Scandal actor Tony Goldwyn who discovers his east coast ancestors in Nunda. NHS members will share their experiences working with the producers of this program, from the first phone call in summer 2014, through the research findings and secrecy required, to the visit of Tony and the TV crew on Nov.1.

2:30 – 2:45 PM - Break & Coffee/Tea

2:45- 3 PM - Power Point Program on Nunda’s Historic Oakwood Cemetery Celebrating its 150th Anniversary

3:15 – 4:30 PM - Visit Oakwood Cemetery and discover how gravestones tell stories and can help you with genealogy.
