Nunda Academy and School Houses

Postcard from a private collection

This is a postcard showing an image taken probably before 1900. The Building in the middle is the Nunda Academy, built in 1869. Flanking the building are two "one room school houses" which were moved to the Mill Street location to house the younger students when the Union School District No 1 was formed in 1877. Keshequa Central School now stands behind this location. The central portion of this building was later used as part of Nunda's first high school.

See an earlier photograph of the academy.
